What Are Memory Care Communities?
Memory care communities provide a specialized level of care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementia related diagnosis. Specialized care includes daily life enrichment activities, medication management, and customized care plans geared toward the unique needs of each resident.
A 24-hour, 7-day a week, wake staff is trained to care for the specific needs of those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Layouts of communities are designed to be easily navigable, filled with helpful visual cues.
Many communities have a low staff-to-resident ratio, allowing residents to get help when they need it. Staff enrichment activities help residents feel empowered, encouraged, and engaged. Facilities are secured to prevent residents from wandering outside, though most have secured outdoor spaces.
